Today we got the Christmas tree up and the kids got to decorate it. I was a little concerned about how Cole would do with the tree, but I forgot all about my other toddler, Shiver the kitten. As soon as we got the tree up off she went climbing the tree. The kids love putting up all of the ornaments. It is fun to watch how the tree evolves. Phase one: The kids decorate it so all of the ornaments and candy canes are on the bottom. Phase two: Cole gets into the ornaments and thinks the candy canes are an all you can eat buffet, so mom moves all of the ornaments and especially candy canes up higher. Phase three: The unexpected factor, Shiver climbing in the tree and playing with ornaments or knocking them off of the tree completely. Phase four: six pairs of tiny little hands that are continually touching and moving the ornaments, even though the tree is off limits. Someday I will have a beautiful, perfectly quaffed tree, but for now I will enjoy my daily evolving Christmas tree.
