Christmas jammies

December 24, 2009

Christmas Eve PJs are a tradition in my family. This year the girls all got matching pajamas and new slippers. The boys got matching zippies.

Nativity

December 24, 2009

Tonight was the first time in a few years that we have been at our house for Christmas Eve and where we did the Nativity with just our family. It was a crazy and fun. The kids had a great time. Afterwards, we talked about the true meaning of Christmas. I am always amazed at how wise and knowledgeable little kids are. It is touching to hear them talk about who Jesus is and why he came to earth. It was sweet.
Our Cast was as follows:

Hollie-Donkey/ photographer/ director
Kinley- Mary
Tate- Shepard/ wise man

Christmas Dresses

Ever since we had Kinley and Tate I have bought the girls matching dresses for Christmas and Easter. It has gotten progressively harder with more girls and the varied sizes. I fear that this is probably the last year that Kinley will go along. It has been a fun tradition, not to mention cute.

Cord claims that he doesn't like cats. Over the past 5 years I think that has changed. He won't admit it, but it has. Judge for yourself.

Who needs TV

December 16, 2009

Porter is a very attentive baby. He loves to be able to watch the world around him. He loves setting in his megasaucer and watching the chaos. I just can't believe how big he is getting.

Dumbfounded

December 16, 2009

It is definitely winter here in MN. Today's high was around 6 degrees. With the windchill it was cold enough that the elementary school kids had indoor recess. When I picked up Ella from preschool she was dressed in her snow clothes. Apparently it wasn't too cold for the preschoolers to go outside and play. I was dumbfounded that anyone would go outside intentionally. Ella, however had a great time playing in the snow.

Revenge of the coffee table

December 15, 2009

Cole is an active toddler and he loves to climb. One of his favorite past times is to climb onto the coffee table and dance. Well today the coffee table had had enough and it sought its revenge. From the looks of it I would say the table won this round.

Surprise visitor from up north

December 8, 2009

We got a special treat tonight. Cord's older brother Derek who lives in Boston had a layover at our airport. His flight out was going to be delayed (we were hoping canceled). So we packed up the kids up and went to the airport to see him. The kids and I had not seen Uncle Derek since we lived in ID. In fact, he had yet to meet either Cole or Porter. The roads were horrible so we were late getting there and we didn't get as much time as we wanted to, but it was great to see him. He charmed the kids by giving them candy. The kids warmed up to him instantly. He took us out to dinner at a restaurant in the airport. It was fun. The kids enjoyed seeing uncle Derek and getting to know him a little bit. The twins refer to him now as dad's brother who looks like him. The time was short, but it was worth driving through a blizzard to spend time with family.

The clean up crew

December 8, 2009

Today the kids had a delicious lunch of Mac and Cheese. After Reese and Riley had eaten Cole decide he would be my little helper by finishing off their leftovers. He just went from stool to stool and helped himself. He was his own little cleanup crew.

Ella was still eating and she wanted a picture taken of her. Yes she is still in her PJ's for lunch. It was our lazy day when I have the girls get dressed after they eat lunch so they get one less outfit dirty.
Cole was in heaven. Cole loves getting his picture taken he sees a camera and stops what he is doing and says "Cheese". Cute but hard to catch him in action.

Porter's first Cereal

December 7, 2009

Tonight Porter had his first taste of rice cereal. He loved it and gobbled it all down. Yummy!!!

Happy 29th Birthday to me again!!!!

December 7, 2009

Today I turned 29 again. Cord gave me the best present of all. A quiet house. He took ALL 7 kids to McDonald s and then to Target for 2 hrs so I could be home alone. It was a weird feeling. I can't remember the last time I was at home by myself. It was great. I kept listening for a baby to cry or expect the kids to come running through the house. They didn't just pure quiet, Bliss...

Cord and Kinley made me a cake.

The girls were so excited to give me their presents.

Porter's Blessings

December 6, 2009

In the past we have usually blessed our babies when they were about 1 1/2 to 2 months old. With Porter we decided to wait until when Kinley was baptized so in case family could come they would be here for both. My Father-in-law hurt his back the day before he was supposed to fly out here. So we decided to wait a few more weeks so he could heal and come. So by the time we blessed Porter he was over 4 months old. We are lucky he still fit into his outfit.

It was a beautiful day. We are grateful for all of those who participated, and those who came to support our family. A special thanks to my mom for making the blessing outfit. She has made all 7 of our children's blessing gowns or jumpers. As soon as I find time I will get it on the wall with the other ones.

Snuggle bunnies

December 5, 2009

It doesn't matter where you put Reese and Riley when you put them in bed they always end up together. From the moment they were born they always wanted to be together. I remember the nurse telling me about when they first brought them to the nursery in two isolates they both were just fussing, but the second they put them in the same isolate they calmed down. From that point on they always slept together until about 6 months when we put them in their own cribs. Now that the each have their own bed they still love to sleep together. Tonight this is how we found them sleeping.

Papa's visit

December 4-7, 2009
Cord's father, better know as "Papa" was able to come visit for Porter's blessing. The girls were so excited. Papa flew in Friday afternoon and stayed until Monday morning. It was a short trip, but we crammed in a whole lot of fun. We all went to the airport to pickup Papa and on the way home he took the family out to eat at Pei Wei. The girls love using the kids chopsticks. The weekend was full of games and fun. Papa was well loved by everyone. Every time he sat down there was someone jumping up into his lap. It was so much fun to have him here. We Love you Papa! Thank you for coming! A big thanks to my sisters-in-law for taking care of Ooma so Papa could come. We love our Papa and Ooma!!!!

Oh Christmas tree

November 28, 2009

Today we got the Christmas tree up and the kids got to decorate it. I was a little concerned about how Cole would do with the tree, but I forgot all about my other toddler, Shiver the kitten. As soon as we got the tree up off she went climbing the tree. The kids love putting up all of the ornaments. It is fun to watch how the tree evolves. Phase one: The kids decorate it so all of the ornaments and candy canes are on the bottom. Phase two: Cole gets into the ornaments and thinks the candy canes are an all you can eat buffet, so mom moves all of the ornaments and especially candy canes up higher. Phase three: The unexpected factor, Shiver climbing in the tree and playing with ornaments or knocking them off of the tree completely. Phase four: six pairs of tiny little hands that are continually touching and moving the ornaments, even though the tree is off limits. Someday I will have a beautiful, perfectly quaffed tree, but for now I will enjoy my daily evolving Christmas tree.
